In a big relief to the migrant workers going to their state from Rajasthan, wont have to pay a single penny as railway fare.
After the announcement of Congress party President Sonia Gandhi about party bearing the rail fare of migrant workers on Monday, Rajasthan government has decided that it will pay the rail fare of the migrant workers going from Rajasthan to other states to Railways. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced this on micro blogging site twitter on Monday afternoon. This means that these workers will not have to pay the fare as it will be taken care by Rajasthan government.
Special trains for migrant workers from Rajasthan to other states have been started and process has been started regarding their travel. Arrangements for boarding and lodging of migrant workers who were working in several factories of the state were done by the state government after the lockdown was announced in the last week of March. Since then it was a long wait for these workers to go back home. After Chief Minister Gehlot demanded that one opportunity be given to these labourers to go back home, some relaxations were made. Thereafter since the movement of labourers is a big logistic exercise, Gehlot had recently stressed on the need of running special trains for workers. From May1 the trains started ,however it came to light that fare was being charged from migrant labourers by the Railways. Therefore, on Monday, Congress President announced that party will be near the travel cost and had asked PCC’s to take action.
Since Rajasthan is Congress ruled state and Gehlot has already been at the forefront of the demand of giving relief to stranded workers, it was natural that he decided to bear the travel fare of the workers.
