Gehlot govt will give additional Rs 1,000 ex gratia to 35 lakh needy families hit by the coronavirus lockdown.

Rajasthan government has taken yet another step to give more relief to the needy families affected by the lockdown.  The council of ministers headed by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took the decision of giving Rs 1000 each as financial assistance to a total of 35 lakh needy families in Rajasthan affected due to coronavirus-induced lockdown, and an amount equal to Rs 351 crore would be spent

“The Rajasthan government will give financial assistance of Rs 1,000 each to 35 lakh needy families of the state, affected due to coronavirus-induced lockdown. A total of Rs 351 crore will be spent on it. Earlier the government has given Rs 2,500 to such families,” informed the release issued by the government.

During the lockdown period, Gehlot government had given Rs 2500 as ex-gratia amount to the people who were needy and were facing trouble due to the lockdown.

At the meeting, it was decided that of Rs 2.25 crore received by legislations under the local area development fund, they will spend Rs 1 crore in a year for next two years on medical facilities.

The remaining Rs 1.25 crore will be spent for development works according to needs of their area. Government has also given relief to the tourism sector by giving them relief under SGST. The Council of ministers has approved a relief package of about Rs 220 crore through the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation for varied industries.

The situation caused by COVID-19 was discussed in the meeting.
