Why can’t the assembly session be convened in Rajasthan when in other states it’s possible ?

In the last week of March this year, BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan took the oath as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh after the party toppled the Kamalnath government and later proved its majority in the assembly. All this happened during the Corona pandemic period.

More recently, session of Goa assembly will be convened on July 27 while Bihar assembly will convene session on August 3 and Manipur assembly will convene session from August 10. All this during the Coronavirus pandemic.  Meanwhile, UP assembly is mulling over convening the session through video conferencing.

However, no political crisis exists in these states ,but in Rajasthan where there is a political crisis on the brim, an assembly session in which the sitting CM wants to prove his majority will not be allowed presumably due to the Coronavirus.

The period of Corona has seen attempts to topple the MP government by the name of operation Kamal and deferring the Rajya Sabha elections. Though they were later held but many believe that they were deferred for political reasons. Still the voting for RS elections was done in various state assemblies  including RajyaSabha where the MLAs of all the parties had casted their vote.

After it was claimed that the Gehlot government was in minority, now the government has decided to prove its majority in the house. It looks strange that the opposition is not pressing for this demand though on social media and through almost daily press conferences they attack the Gehlot government.

So why not settle this matter for once and all call the session to let the government prove the majority ? what’s stopping the Governor from convening the session is what is being asked in political circles. Meanwhile, Gehlot along with MLAs went to the Rajbhawan earlier during the day to collectively request him to convene the session and were at the Rajbhawan till the time of writing this report.
