The Ladulal Pitliya episode has exhibited the nervousness of the BJP in the runup to the byelections. The way BJP handled the entire event of allegedly pressuring Pitliya and then his vanishing act after withdrawing the nomination form showed that BJP is losing control. With all major leaders of the party away from the campaigning, holding up camps in West Bengal or being sidelined, the task of making strategy for the byelection has been left with state President Satish Poonia.
Experienced leader like Rajendra Rathore is away in west Bengal where he looks more than eager to show his performance to Home Minister Amit Shah than campaigning in by elections in Rajasthan while former CM Raje has been sidelined and is not seen politically active in the state.
Sensing defeat BJP made Pitaliya withdraw his nomination but the whole act became the talk of the town with his purported audio and a letter getting viral in media and social media. BJP is now not able to defend all this and has been claiming that Pitliya has willingly withdrawn himself from the by elections.
However going by the track record of BJP everyone knows that there was a hand of BJP in sudden change of heart of Pitalya who till a few days was talking about Swabhiman on social media after he was denied the party ticket.
In all BJP is not able to get itself to act together and is therefore giving a poor show in front of the voters. This won’t go well with the voters as this episode has led to erosion of the party’s credibility.
