Rajasthan’s popular Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot who started as a young lad helping the migrant refugees in West Bengal during the 1971 war is still helping and doing his bit for the people. The COVID health crisis saw him taking the vow that no one should sleep hungry and no one should walk on foot (migrant labourers) during the time of lockdown. Gehlot, known to be a compassionate man has appealed to the people to help the needy on the New Year time as lots of people have been affected by the economic contraction.
In 1971 Gehlot was young and was inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi ,he undertook social service and was filled with compassion. This same feeling of compassion and serving the society is visible in the various social security schemes which he conceived during his previous tenures and this time. Pension schemes for aged farmers, elderly people, single women, schemes for specially abled people, free medicine scheme and there was also a scheme for free medicines for animals for which Gehlot used to take potshots on opposition that they don’t give votes but still scheme has been made for them during his last tenure.
It is because of his this intrinsic nature that while there were attempts to topple his government, lots of pulls and pressures by opposition and friends turned foes which could have distracted his agenda and focus from covid relief works, Gehlot cared for no one and ensured that the commitment made to the people about securing their life and keeping them safe gets fulfilled.
