Ashok Gehlot – the silent performer

Quite opposite to the ongoing trend in the country where even the routine works are shown as ‘saugats’ given by leaders, there are some leaders who away from all the media blitz are working hard to bring positive changes in the lives of people. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot is one such leader who has concentrated all his attention and focus on improving the quality of life of the people not by lofty promises but by working on the ground. Broadly Gehlot model comprises providing social security to weaker sections, building world class infrastructure with an eye on the future and on a transparent and accountable governance system.

So we have jansoochna portal, RTI and all such steps of Gehlot government to ensure that people know what is happening, mind you RTI is not a toothless body under Gehlot but has always been strengthened when Gehlot has been the Chief Minister.

Coming to the world class infrastructure, let take you to 2013 during the second tenure of Gehlot government when Ashok Gehlot saw the vision of a refinery in Rajasthan.  The project was initiated, foundation stone was laid down and work began. With the change in the government, the project which was started with the objective of changing the total economic ecology of the state was put on the back burner.  It gained speed once Gehlot again took over the reins and is now moving at a fast pace.

Infact Rajasthan has got maximum medical colleges, engineering colleges, institutions like IIM, IIT AIIMS etc due to the footwork of Gehlot.

The corona crisis management consisted of stress on testing that too by credible RTPCR, providing support in cash and kind, schemes like  Moksha Kalash special buses, Shramik special buses earned him praise inside the state which was visible in the victory of congress in local bodies election also.

However all this has remained away from the media glare , the focus of our media system is on rhetoric and statement making motormouths and the leaders who are contributing in the progress of either the state or nation are usually mentioned on the footnotes.

It is time that works of leaders like Ashok Gehlot are spread across the nation so that constructive suggestions can be made or the initiatives taken in Rajasthan  can be followed elsewhere for the betterment of people.
