After Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and other leaders were stopped on their way to meet the families of the farmers killed on Sunday in Lakhimpur Kheri, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot lashed out at the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh.
In a series of tweets, he condemned the act of detaining the leaders including Gandhi and that unlawful detaining the leaders of the opposition party was against the democratic norms. He said that it was totally wrong to stop Priyanka Gandhi who was on her way to express solidarity with the families who lost their dear ones in Sunday violence.
Gehlot who is known to end the disputes by finding solutions also took on the BJP government for not allowing the CM of Chhattisgarh and deputy CM of Punjab from entering the state and said that it can happen only during a despotic rule. He questioned if the BJP government wanted to end democracy in the state.
Three time CM Gehlot has always found solutions through peaceful means. For example the Gujar agitation in the state was tackled with peace and it was achieved without any violence. It is because of his political acumen that such unfortunate instances have never occurred when he has been in power though during the BJP rule in the state, there was police action during gurjar agitation killing lives.
