The launching of e-services of the state’s revenue department in Rajasthan is a revolutionary step towards ensuring transparency and giving the power in the hands of people. The image of files and documents kept in steel almirahs strike when we think about any government department especially revenue department. Having detailed land records, mutations, jama-bandi etc the revenue department is a necessary place for the farmers who very often have to visit this office.

However, with one big step, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has reduced their troubles. He launched several services of this department on online mode so that people in rural areas will not have to make frequent visits to the offices of the department for activities like Girdawari etc.

On the occasion of  “Rajasv diwas” or the Revenue Day, the Chief Minister launched services like e-girdawari, Krishi rin-rahan portal and e-registration.

This is a step towards simplifying the complex processes making it easier for rural people to concentrate on the work best known to them ie. Farming and allied activities and connect online for these activities instead of going to these offices.

Infact, IT services are being used to empower the people in the state.  When the people get information they become empowered and this is good for transparency also.  The use of IT should give power in the hands of people and this is what the Gehlot government has been doing.

Gehlot on this occasion directed the officials of the department to make those services online at the earliest which have been computerised on pilot basis.
