The sudden focus on Rajbhawn and other political activities revolving around the state politics seems to have shadowed the investigation in the multi crore scam related to Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Scam. Role of union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is now under lens in this case after a Jaipur court has directed Rajasthan’s Special Operations Group (SOG) to investigate his role in connection with the alleged Rs 884 crore scam.
The court was hearing a petition, filed by Barmer district residents Ladu Singh and Guman Singh, claiming they invested Rs 54 lakh and Rs 14 lakh respectively due to Gajendra Singh Shekhawat which were allegedly never returned and they were cheated.
Media reports suggest that the company had opened its offices in Rajasthan and Gujarat and many small income earners invested their hard earned money in the company. Many people suffered financially and had mental trauma as they lost their savings in this scam.
They had either invested their retirement fund or had wanted to get their daughter married with financial ease. May be a house maid was saving money to get her children educated. But all of them have been robbed off now after this scam.
The cooperative society had promised investors very high returns on their investments. According to officials, the society had over 200 branches in Rajasthan and about two dozen in Gujarat. A voluminous chargesheet of 2.5 lakh pages was filed in this case in December 2019.
This is the second controversy related to Shekhawat. His name had also purportedly figured in the auto tapes related to the horse trading to allegedly destabilize the Congress government in Rajasthan. However, all this is still not the talk of the media and is away from limelight.
The Rajasthan Police SOG, which is probing the audiotapes leak case, had earlier sent a notice to Shekhawat asking him to give his voice sample and record his statement. However he is yet to give his consent and has not given his voice sample.
