Absence of former CM Raje from the BJP’s protest against the Congress government on Tuesday has been the talk of the political corridor rather than the discussion around the protest of the party.
The BJP was desperate to make this protest a success because a jinx was felt that none of the agitations conducted by the party in recent years could generate attention and participation from the BJP leaders & party workers. The demonstration was held under the party’s “Nahi Sahega Rajasthan” (Rajasthan will not tolerate) campaign in the run-up to the assembly polls expected to be held in November-December & while party MPs were seen quite active with Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat appearing to be leading the demonstration , Raje was missing in action.
As a result of this speculations are rife about her political future in the state. Recently she was once again made National Vice- President of the party, a post she had already been occupying. In her absence, state leaders like Rajendra Rathore, Satish Poonia and union minister Shekhawat hogged the limelight.
BJP leaders addressed the workers outside the party office and marched towards the secretariat. While the main march reached the Statue Circle via Chomu Circle, a group of workers reached Ambedkar Circle.
It is said that the BJP top brass was keeping an eye on this demonstration and a day earlier PM Modi too had made an appeal which means that demonstration was very important for the party. Does Raje’s absence matter to the party ?
